1977 CUSTOM BUILT 80 Brigantine

Built on a custom basis in 1977, Devil's Gauntlet is a 24.38-metre brigantine sailing vessel constructed as a full-size replica of the 1768 Royal British Navy ship Sultana. Her hull is built from a Kevlar/polymer composite, a construction method known for its durability and resistance, and her build benefited from the shared expertise of the Philip & Son Shipyard in Dartmouth, England. She features two wooden masts with sails and rigging described as intact and in excellent condition, including newly made custom Windjammer sails, along with traditional period-accurate hardware such as Norwegian ash block and tackle with Kevlar rollers, African mahogany deadeyes and belaying pins, and Oregon White Pine spars throughout.

Devil's Gauntlet accommodates up to 14 guests across five staterooms, including a master stateroom with a private en suite head featuring a large bathtub with waterfall shower. The vessel was comprehensively refitted between 2019 and 2022 and holds a USCG Certificate of Inspection for 49 passengers, making her suitable for commercial passenger operations. Her equipment list is extensive and includes a Cummins 210HP turbo diesel engine with only 1,038 hours, a 5,000W inverter/charger, an 800W solar system, a 500W wind generator, a Spectra 300 GPD watermaker, Starlink internet, two air conditioning units, a full-size washer and dryer, two ice makers, a Force 10 propane stove and oven, a full-size side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, an ElectroScan waste treatment system, Garmin GPS and radar, and a comprehensive fire and safety package including a Fireboy Halon engine room system and 71 USCG-compliant life jackets.
