1971 TRUMPY Comparar

Built by Trumpy in 1971, SOMERSET is a 17.67-metre motor yacht representing one of the final vessels produced by this renowned American builder. As Contract #442, she holds a notable place in the Trumpy legacy and was originally commissioned by textile magnate Gerrish Milliken, Jr., launched under the name SPINDLE before becoming SOMERSET — a name she has carried through to her current, third owner. Her history, combined with her classic lines, makes her a genuinely rare example of American yacht-building heritage.

Between 2012 and 2013, SOMERSET underwent a comprehensive, keel-up restoration that brought her fully up to modern standards while preserving her original character and elegance. The scope of work included a new bottom, keel frames and floors, fully rebuilt engines, new generators, tanks, plumbing, wiring and electrical systems, as well as an entirely new interior, wall coverings and paint. She is presented as turnkey and exceptionally well maintained, with no known deficiencies reported. Her two-cabin accommodation layout offers a comfortable and well-appointed cruising environment.

SOMERSET is ideally suited to a buyer with an appreciation for classic American yacht craftsmanship and provenance. Her thorough restoration means she is ready to use immediately, without the need for further investment, making her a sound choice for an owner seeking a distinctive, historically significant vessel for private cruising. She would appeal particularly to those drawn to the character and quality of a Trumpy, a builder whose yachts are widely recognised among collectors and enthusiasts alike.
