Built by Beneteau in 1986, TASMAN is a 12.4-metre sailing yacht based on the Beneteau First 405, a design by Jean Berret that earned an strong racing reputation including a victory at the Admiral's Cup. With a fin keel and spade rudder configuration, a beam of 3.89 metres and a displacement of 8,392 kg, she combines responsive handling with the robustness of a genuine offshore hull. She has been in the care of a single family since 1993 and has been based on the Greek island of Leros since 2009.

TASMAN has been carefully maintained throughout her life. In 2017, the hull was stripped back to the gelcoat, fully repainted and the keel bolts were inspected, with the hull confirmed sound. The year before, all interior upholstery and headlinings were replaced. She is fitted with in-mast furling for easy shorthanded sailing and is otherwise kept to her original specification, delivering an average passage speed of six to seven knots under her 63.3 m² of working sail. The Perkins 4108 diesel provides auxiliary power, and the Eberspacher forced-draft diesel heating system extends the sailing season comfortably into spring and autumn. Below decks, she offers three double cabins, two bathrooms and a total water capacity of 401 litres for extended passages. A dinghy with outboard and a bimini are included.
